Dear Ward 5 Members
I would like to inform you that I have scheduled a meeting of the Ward 5 Democrats. Emily Prenner has volunteered to host, and I thank her once again for her kindness. Her address is 702 Chestnut Street, Waban, MA. It is at the corner of Chestnut and Woodward. Democrats that are driving may park on Woodward St or Larchmont Ave.
The meeting is scheduled for Saturday, January 28th at 2:00 PM. We will be discussing future actions at the local level, specifically with regards to the sanctuary city ordinance. We will also have a constructive conversation on the soon-to-be completed Charter proposal, that Ward 5 Members and Charter Comissioners Chris Steel and Jane Frantz have worked very hard on. We will also be discussing actions that Ward 5 or its members can take in response to the incoming Trump Administration. Lastly (unless I add other items to the agenda), we will discuss the caucuses for this year's Democratic State Convention.
lease note that this is the first meeting of the year, so members are encouraged to bring their annual dues to the meeting so that our Treasurer may collect them. While other Ward Committees are raising their dues this year, Ward 5 will keep their annual member dues at $20, which I believe is the lowest in the City. I anticipate this to be a particularly active year, as I look forward to getting Ward 5 involved with local races (such as partnering with other organizations and committees to host mayoral forums and debates). Moreover, we as local Democrats ought to be wary and vigilant of the Trump Administration, and that involves having a robust local party structure.
I will see you at the Ward 5 meeting next Saturday, January 28th!
