Welcoming City Rally - Full City Council Hearing and Vote

  • Newton City Hall 1000 Commonwealth Avenue Newton, MA, 02459 United States (map)

Can you come out again next week to help push the Welcoming City Ordinance over the finish line? The full City Council will be considering the ordinance next Tuesday and we want another huge show of support. Here are the basics with more information to come:

Tuesday, February 21: Rally to support Welcoming City Ordinance

  • 6:45 pm - gather outside Newton City Hall
  • Speakers: Senator Cindy Creem, Representative Kay Khan, City Councilor Susan Albright and Rashaan Hall, head of ACLU-MA Social Justice Project.
  • 7:45 pm - City Council meeting begins
  • RSVP here on Facebook and share the invite with friends

Even though passage of the ordinance is likely - we still want lots of activists on-hand when the vote takes place. Our voices in Newton are being heard statewide and we hope other communities and state leaders will take similar action to protect immigrants.

Finally - please email the City Council at citycouncil@newtonma.gov and swarren@newtonma.gov to let them know you'll be coming to the meeting and want to see this ordinance passed!
