Update from Representative Kay Khan

Dear Friends - I would like to begin by dedicating this newsletter to my husband Nasir Khan, who was my greatest supporter, and whose unexpected and untimely death in April was a tremendous loss for me and my family.  We are fortunate to live in such a caring community, and I wish to take this opportunity to thank so many of you who have been incredibly supportive these last few months. I would also like to take this opportunity to update you on some of the work I've been doing throughout this busy time on Beacon Hill, which includes some legislative successes.

For many years, I have sponsored a bill to prohibit the shackling of pregnant inmates and more recently, a bill to allow police retirees in the City of Newton to work special details, which were both passed and signed into law by the Governor.  I have also been working on getting the Auburndale Commuter Rail Accessibility Project to 100% design, and MassDOT has recently committed to finish the design phase, an important step toward the construction of this vital transit development.

I hope you’ll take a moment to catch up on what I’ve been working on.

Representative Kay Khan
