Congratulations to Ken Parker who recently earned 20 year status as a member of the Massachusetts Democratic State Committee. Ken has a lifetime of commitment to the Democratic cause and continues to be a talented activist for our candidates and values.
Thank you Ken for your service. Keep up the great work!
Ken's change in status means that the - this is a mouthful - the Mass Democratic Committee Male Senate District Caucus Elected seat is now open. Two candidates from Newton are running for this open seat: Ward 4 City Councilor Jay Harney and activist David Albright. Both candidates are dedicated Democrats. Please take the time to get to know them both.
The process to elect this position is fairly complex. Here is a very quick summary:
- A caucus is organized by each ward/town committee in Senator Cindy Creem's District which includes Newton, Brookline and part of Wellesley.
- Newton's caucus will be on March 6 between 3 and 6 pm at Newton South High School.
- At this caucus ward committee members will elect delegates who will then decide, at a state committee meeting on March 26 whether, Jay or David will be the next State Committee member.
- Only ward committee members may vote for delegates to the March 26 State Committee meeting. Any Democrat can run to be a delegate to the March 26 meeting.
Please stay tuned to our website for updates on this race. Good luck to David and Jay as they seek the votes of our ward committee members.
