NDCC 2016 Martina Jackson Delegate Award given to Ruth Dain

In 2014 the Newton Democratic City Committee announced the creation of an annual award - the "Martina Jackson Delegate Award" - to honor of Martina's long-time service as chair of the NDCC.

Each year, one of Newton's approximately 80 delegates to the State Convention are chosen by the Newton Democratic City Committee's executive board to receive the award. The criteria? To be a person who is "all in" - an activist who demonstrates the highest commitment to the Democratic cause through their hard work on campaigns. This is a tall order among convention delegates, who are already incredibly dedicated activists. The winner receives fame, glory and a free ticket to the Convention ($75)!

The 2016 Martina Jackson Delegate is: Ruth Dain of Ward 2

Ruth has been a tireless campaigner for many years in Newton. She's worked on local, state and national campaigns with incredible dedication. Ruth always has a clip board in hand and is out there doing the hard work that is so important to our candidates. Ruth also served for many years as the chair of the Ward 2 Democratic Committee. She is to be commended and thanked for all she has done and is the well-deserved 2016 Martina Jackson Delegate.
