An informal reception and discussion focused on civic engagement within the Asian-American Community Find out how to be more involved with the community, support the Democratic Party, and run for political office. Hear from Asian-American political leaders and local activists, including:

• Amy Mah Sangiolo, Newton City Councilor and candidate for mayor of Newton

• Anping Shen, candidate for Newton School Committee

• May Takayanagi, long-time community activist

• Alexander Chang, Newton South High School student and activist

Music provided by students of the Newton Chinese Language School

Information will be available on voter registration, Newton candidates running for office, and Newton issues including the proposed city charter This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments to be served.
