Senator Tom McGee Our New Mass Dems Party Chair

Congratulations, Chairman McGee! Mass Dems press release below, and here is Senator McGee's website so you can learn more about his legislative work.

State Senator Thomas McGee of Lynn was elected unanimously as the new chairman of the Massachusetts Democratic Party Thursday night by a voice vote of the Democratic State Committee.

“John is leaving the Party at a historic time. In the past few elections cycles, our grassroots, values-based campaigning led to unprecedented voter turnout resulting in winning both U.S. Senate seats, all nine Congressional seats, all Constitutional offices and solidifying our overwhelmingly Democratic Massachusetts House and Senate. I look forward to continuing this positive trend over the next election cycle and beyond,” said McGee following his election.

“As Democrats, we’re witnessing a national Republican Party attempt to turn back the clock on our core values for which we battled over generations: Affordable health care, Social Security, Medicare, women’s rights, civil rights, LGBT rights, and organized labor,” said McGee. “So when John Walsh announced he was stepping down as chair of the Massachusetts Democratic State Party, I decided to do my part to preserve and protect the basic principles that binds us together as Democrats.”Senator Thomas McGee has represented the Third Essex District since 2002, which includes Lynn, Lynnfield, Marblehead, Nahant, Saugus, and Swampscott. He is the Senate Chairman of the Transportation Committee and a member of the Ways and Means Committee. He is the former Chairman of the Joint Committee on Labor and Workforce Development. He is a 30 year DSC member.   Also elected at the meeting was Lizzy Ortiz to the Affirmative Action female seat. Congratulations Lizzy and welcome to the state committee!
