Martina Jackson Receives Prestigious Award

Martina Jackson, originally from New York City, is married to Daniel Jackson, and together, have a daughter Catherine, and two beautiful grandchildren.  

Martina is a true volunteer, a dedicated and passionate community organizer. She is a great communicator, a true believer in helping others whether it be through the teaching of Shakespeare to the women at the Suffolk County House of Correction, or cooking dinner weekly for the homeless who show up at the Paulist Center in Boston, Martina gives from the heart in whatever she touches.

As Executive Director of Citizens Against the Death Penalty many years ago, Martina made sure Massachusetts never became a state that favored the death penalty and to this day continues to monitor the state of the state in relationship to this issue.

She is a dedicated volunteer in the city of Newton, appointed by two Mayors, she served on the licensing commission for 12 years, many of those years as the chair of the Committee. She is an advisor, manager, and organizer of political campaigns for individuals running for office and is sure to knock on every door for candidates during campaign season.  

She has held onto the chairmanship of the Newton Democratic City Committee for 12 years, and is a respected member of the Democratic State Committee and former Chairwoman of the Platform Committee of the Massachusetts Democratic Party.

Martina currently works at the Executive Office of Elder Affairs and has produced award winning cable programs offering important information about elder services available to seniors and their families.

In her spare time she loves dogs and horses and spent many years as a child and adult as an equestrian.
