Nobel Prize–Winning Scientist William R. Moomaw
"Why Protect Newton’s Trees?"
March 18, 2025 @ 7 p.m. Online & In Person: RSVP
At the First Unitarian Universalist Society in Newton

Sponsored by ProtectNewtonTrees.orgMothers Out Front Newton,  Green Newton, and the FUUSN Climate Action Task Force.

We invite you to a conversation with Nobel Prize–winning scientist and Professor Emeritus of International Environmental Policy at Tufts University, Dr. William R. Moomaw. Dr. Moomaw has spent decades documenting the essential ecological services provided by mature forests and large mature urban trees and promoting pro-forestation policies to achieve climate goals and protect urban public health against the worst impacts of climate change.

Join us for a conversation about the community value of our urban trees, including:

  • Why larger trees are irreplaceable assets

  • The status of trees in Newton

  • Ways to adapt and improve our urban forests

Take the opportunity to ask a Nobel Prize–winning climate scientist about Newton's trees!

The event is free and open to the public, online and in person. Reserve your space today!
